I am happy to tell that I’m officially joining Andy Moor’s AVA label also in form or A&R person. I have released one collaboration single (Yearzero) and one album (Metaverse) through it and now hope to contribute other ways too.
For those who are not in the music business, according to Wikipedia it means: “Artists and Repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and the artistic development of recording artists. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label”. At best they are brilliantly creative people couple steps ahead of the trends, at worst unsuccesful musicians trying to make a living in music business.
The first signing coming through me is Finnish (what a surprise!) U&K’s new single ‘Ace of Bass’. Guys are no new comers to the scene with releases on Lost Language and Unity, remix for Sasha (‘Wavy Gravy’) and tracks featured on Global Underground and Ministry compilations. Usually Uke and Kim make twisted, techy, proggy house but this time they’ve came up with a belting trancey prog house track. ‘Ace of Bass’ has a very summery feel and personally I even hear hints of the very trendy italo vibe in the main melody. Demo version featured in my latest podcast and full release coming during summer 2009.
