Last weekend kicked off with much-awaited gig at UK club Digital Society‘s 2nd Birthday in Leeds on Friday. The line-up looked more like a festival one than a medium sized club event: Gareth Emery, Menno de Jong, Simon Patterson, Ronski Speed, Will Holland, Orkidea and bunch of locals on three floors. The place was as busy as it can get and in some point even getting to the DJ booth seemed like a mission for John Rambo!
I played in the main room between Will Holland, who played superb warm up set, and Gareth Emery who kicked the full mayhem on and who’s set was superb once again. The club has a Funktion One sound system and DS had two extra lasers installed so it was as ravey as it can get. The music was pretty full on for rest of the night with Simon and Menno banging it full on which the crowd seemed to love. My own set’s crowd highlights seemed to be David West & myself’s God’s Garden and Andy Moor’s new remix of Love Story which is also my own #1 track at the moment. Top trainspotted track of the night for me was Gareth’s opening track: Adam K & Soha remix of Reflekt’s Need To Feel Loved. Pure balearic vocal trance bliss. My set list available in the Tracklist section of my site.
It was nice to catch up with some of the DJs, get to know some new ones, see many UK friends after a while (MacGyver rules btw!) and get to chat with many very friendly UK clubbers. All in all a perfect night. Unfortunately I had a 07:00am wake-up to make it to Hallmark’s birthday event in Helsinki on Saturday so I couldn’t stay the whole night. The people behind the club are some of the nicest promoters I’ve met and they truly do it for the love of music and have a passion to make superb events. Big thanks, respect and greetz to Rav, Kane, Paul, Will, Andy, Amy, Liz, Kat, rest of the DS posse and everybody else I met: keep up the good vibes!
