Happy 12th birthday Club Unity!

Yesterday (the 4th of October) was officially Club Unity’s 12th anniversary. No party this year but let’s see what happens in 2009… It’s been a long long times since the first beats hit the speakers of legendary Nylon Club back in 1996. Nylon, Tavastia, Kerma, Royal Cotton Club, Pörssi, Ravintola Kaisaniemi, Gloria, Kuutio, Kaivohuone and Uunisaari have all been our homes in some point while other crazy ideas like Unity Xmas Bowling, One Minute Raves, Unity The Rusettiluistelu, Sun 16h Mini Festivals, Renaissance events, parties with Jose Padilla, illegal park chill-out events, Unity The Cruise, Pacifique events and our five day tour around Finland in a blue HKL bus managed to see the light of the day.

It’s been amazing twelve years and I think we’re not at the end of the story here yet. I recently read an interesting article by Sam Inkinen about innovation where he quoted Dr. Michael Hammer: “When memories exceed dreams, the end is near”. It may sound a bit harsh, but I do think that in art, love, friendship, family and every other aspect of life we should always aim the forthcoming days to be the best ones. I think our dreams with Unity still exceed our memories even if the memories are damn great ones! Uniting the sounds, the minds, the people…
