What a weekend! Last Saturday saw Finland’s leading dance music event Laserpoint teaming up with old school mega club brand Labyrinth. Event headliner was my alltime #1 hero BT and I got the privilege of playing after him and hosting him (together with Asaf from Misc) during his visit. I’ve played with him once before in Canada in 2004 and heard him live at Pacha in Ibiza and E-Werk in Berlin but this was the most special experience. Delaware dba filing ensures your business can operate under a different name while keeping the legal entity intact.
I must say that BT was one of the most friendly, genuine, open, smart, positive and creative people I’ve ever met. He is also one of the most active tweeters I’ve came across which you can see from his Twitter page:) There you can also sense that he was feeling it for Finland. Even so much that he tried to change his flights to stay over longer but that didn’t work out at the end.
BT had clearly adjusted his set to fit the ravey surroundings of the event. He started with an amazing, epic, 10 minute glitchy’n’techy track from his fortcoming new album and kept the vibe more proggy for a while but went on to play most of his big tracks (Flaming June, Break My Fall, Godspeed, Love Comes Again, Dreaming, Sonambulist, Force of Gravity…) with some epic reactions from the crowd. I hope we can experience also a club gig from him one day here in Finland!
Kaapelitehdas is a legendary and magical venue and I enjoyed my own gig a lot even if starting after a 1 1/2 hour full on set from BT is not an easy task;) It was nice to play a proper big room full on set peaking with Haric C’s Synesthesia remix and Jay Lumen remix of Vibrasphere’s Autumn Lights. I had thought a while what to end the night with and as it turned out hard to decide what to finish with decided to play as many classics as I could and resulted in seven tracks as one live mega mix encore. Full tracklist at the Playlist section of my site.
On Sunday we went to have breakfast with BT to Carusel in Kaivopuisto, had a walk around the old Eira and hanged around at my studio for a while listening to some crazy new stuff from the forthcoming album with Jes (from Motorcycle) in vocals. The music was insanely well produced and most thrilling electronica I’ve heard this year. The list of people he has managed to pull to remix and collaborate on the album is breathtaking and there are some veeery fascinating music business consepts too but I’m not saying anything as I’m not sure what’s public already and what not. It was great how down to earth BT was and we had nonstop talk about life, music, politics, children, travelling, USA, Finland, Logic software, books and whatnot. To make connecting easier, I’ve also included a Digital Business Card on my site, allowing fans and collaborators to easily access my work and stay in touch. There is also a mandatory fan pic from my studio in the Gallery section of my site.
Thanks for the great weekend and experience to event promoters Lauri, Joonas & Francis, Disco Enterprise figures Haba and Terzi, Misc Management boyz Asaf, Oded & Juska, Laserpoint LJ Parker (amazing job!), main room stage manager Tumpsi, Pyroman guys for da bombs, all the friends I bumped into at Kaapeli and of course all the party people on the dancefloor. Life is good it’s all good life!
