Last summer Unity, Misc and Circus organized two LOVE events. The concept is somewhat simplified to bring world’s finest electronic dance music talent to Finland to a world class setting and to bring top Helsinki art talent to the event to create something truly memorable. Last year’s guests were BBC 1 radio legend Pete Tong and trance pioneer and the original superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold.

This summer we are more focused in today with the swedish original house/techno/prog superstar ERIC PRYDZ (aka Pryda/Cirez D) headlining. He is the most succesful dance music producer of 21st century with several Top 5 hits across the world, tens of Beatport Top 10 hits, countless amazing remixes and all this with material ranging from summery filter house to underground techno through trancey progressive. I would even go as far as claiming him to be the Jimi Hendrix of our age – a true master of his instrument which is his studio. He is also known playing lots of his own unreleased material in his live sets so where in for a real audio candy treat on Friday! Helsinki 78-82 will be doing the warm up of the night in a real balearic style, myself, Mr.A and Heikki L continuing with a shared 1,5h set and Eric’s trusted warm up DJ Dana Berqvist will do the hour before him with Mr.Prydz climaxing the night with a two hour set. I can’t wait to hear as this will be great chance to hear where the music is heading during the next 6-12 months.

Last summer’s events were packed with crowds of 1200 and 1600 people which was amazing considering it was Helsinki on Sunday and Thursday. This event will be packed again for sure so I recommend getting an advance ticket from Tiketti or Helsinki10 for a smooth entry. But don’t worry, there will be tickets available at the door for the ones looking for a late night LOVE. We’ve also got some extra special FX in form of ice cannons in a true Ibiza/Miami style. We had these already in Oakenfold gig and they were such a hit that we decided to continue having them. The idea is to shoot ice cold CO2 from cannons to people and that way cool down the temperature of dance floor a lot for some seconds. An effect I never get tired of:)

To ensure smooth flow throughout the weekend there will be a pre-party at the oh-so-fashionable Helsinki10 clothing shop on Eerikinkatu from 19 until 22 on Friday with DJs Erkko, Dallas and Italo-Sami and the official afterglow will be a LOVE Brunch at Siltanen in Kallio with Rythmikunkaat aka DJ Slow and Bunuel serving their most loved records to ease the hangover. I think we’ll have a proper kick off for the summer 2010 which will hopefully be a long and hot after that long and cold winter we had. I LOVE the summer in Helsinki.
