Before diving into new adventures of 2008 it’s good to look back and see what was rocking in 2007. Musically the year was not the best from my 16 years of DJing but definitely a good one. It was great to see progressive house, tech house, minimal, trance and techno all mix up with each other resulting in such cross genre gems as Dubfire remix of Transit Time or First State’s Falling. Lots of great finnish music from JS16 and Heikki L while global scene’s brightest stars to me were Jerome Isma-ae, Gareth Emery, David West, Lange and Redanka. I posted a Trance Top 10 and Progressive House Top 10 to the charts section of this site.
There were many amazing gigs and events both in Finland and abroad. Playing first time at Guvernment in Toronto, Intuition event at Amsterdam Dance Event, Digital Society and Electronic Sessions in UK and my first gigs in China were all memorable. Back here in Finland Danceteria in Helsinki was rocking all year as were midsummer festival RMJ, One Minute Raves, Unity The Island and Jack nights at Kuudes Linja. Best DJ sets of the year were Nick Warren in Helsinki and Matthew Dekay in Amsterdam while Gareth Emery has been on fire all year around.
Other than music and events biggest things to me were moving from vinyl to CDs completely, getting my second artist album finished (to be releasd in March) and of course finally launching this website. Saddest news were loosing a close friend and main Club Unity character Harri. Really hope we won’t hear news like that anytime soon again! 2008 looks exciting as hell with lots of new music from me coming out, many great events lined up already and overall good vibe for everything. Life is good, it’s all good life!
